Whistler Creekside: An Irresistible Lure
For travelers in the know, Creekside is one of Whistler Blackcomb’s best-kept secrets. Considered by many to be the main Village’s laid-back alter ego, Creekside has all the amenities you could possibly desire during your Whistler stay including its own shops, restaurants, pubs, grocery store, ski school, and rental shop - even its own dedicated gondola for direct access to Whistler Mountain and continued access to Blackcomb Mountain beyond. If family fun, personal indulgence, and fewer crowds fits with your idea of the perfect getaway, the lure of Creekside may prove irresistible when planning your next trip to Whistler.
During the winter season, the Whistler Creekside Gondola provides easy access to countless kilometers of ski runs, including the 11 km Peak to Creek and the famous Dave Murray Olympic Downhill runs (Whistler Creekside was the host venue for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games!).
Over the summer months, visitors looking for a unique sightseeing experience can now upload the Creekside Gondola to enjoy gorgeous views south of the village, continuing to the PEAK 2 PEAK terminal at The Roundhouse via the open-air Big Red Express Chairlift. With world-class golf, amazing biking trails, and stunning lakes and parks just a short stroll away, it’s no wonder Whistler Creekside has become a favorite year-round destination for in-the-know locals and savvy visitors from around the globe.
Creekside Village
Experience where it all began
When Whistler first opened its slopes in February 1966 and began its legendary ascendancy to the top of the skiing world, it did so right here at Whistler Creekside. With one 6-person gondola, the Red Chairlift and two T-bars, early visitors enjoyed access to some of the best ski terrain in North America and before long, cabins, hostels, a pub, a gas station and basic ski town amenities sprouted up in what became Whistler's first neighbourhood. With the development of Whistler Village in the 1980s, this original base area became known as Creekside and today, after many multi-million dollar refurbishment and expansion programs, it stands as a thriving and attractive year-round alternative to Whistler's Main Village.
