Ski season is drawing to a close after a great winter, and now we are eagerly welcoming biking season and the opening of the Whistler Bike Park! Whistler offers an exhilarating mountain biking experience, from adrenaline-pumping downhill trails to serene cross-country routes.

Read on for the full breakdown of the upcoming Whistler summer filled with biking!

Whistler Mountain Bike Park

At the heart of Whistler's mountain biking scene lies the iconic Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Spanning over 80 kilometres of purpose-built trails, the park caters to riders of all abilities. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner looking to improve your skills, the Bike Park offers a wide range of trails, including technical descents, jump lines, and flowy berms.

The Whistler Mountain Bike Park provides an unparalleled mountain biking experience with its state-of-the-art facilities and top-notch bike rental services.

The access to the bike park for the 2023 season will be split between the Whistler Village Gondola and the new Creekside Gondola, with the main point of upload being from the village base. Fitzsimmons Express has been demolished to make way for a new Fitzsimmons 8-pack ready for 2024 that will increase upload capacity by over 50%!

If you're an adrenaline junkie seeking the ultimate thrill, Whistler's steep and technical downhill trails will test your skills and push your limits. Trails like A-Line, Dirt Merchant, and Crabapple Hits are world-renowned for their massive jumps, berms, and rock features.

Whistler's downhill scene is not for the faint of heart, but for those seeking an adrenaline rush and the chance to conquer challenging terrain, it is an unforgettable experience that will leave you craving more. There will be certain closures to the Fitzsimmons Zone, but the A-line trail will remain open aside from the upper section.

Creekside Biking

If you’re staying in Creekside this summer, you’re in luck! There have been major updates to the Creekside Zone. The new 10-person Creekside gondola is now available for riders, giving them access to more than 30 km of trails. Whistler’s crews have been hard at work adding new trails to ride this summer. You can look forward to riding new technical and flowy trails, as well as the addition of more jumps! The difficulty levels range from blue, black, double black, and pro lines. Further, the Insomnia Trail now has an “Advanced Freeride” trail rating. Get excited for some awesome biking in Whistler Creekside!

Bike Rentals and Lessons

When planning a visit to the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, accessing top-quality bike rentals and lessons is essential.

Whistler offers a comprehensive range of bike rental options, ensuring riders have access to high-performance equipment suitable for their skill level and trail preferences. From downhill bikes with advanced suspension systems to protective gear such as helmets and pads, the rental facilities provide everything needed for a safe and thrilling ride.

Additionally, the park provides expert instructors who offer lessons tailored to different abilities, whether you're a beginner looking for an introduction to the park or an experienced rider aiming to refine your technique. These knowledgeable instructors will guide you through proper riding techniques, trail etiquette, and safety practices, ensuring that you maximize your enjoyment and minimize any potential risks.
