Bike Park Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler’s Mountain Bike Park

“Whismas” has arrived, and the community couldn’t be more stoked. The bike park opening is named “Whismas” as the first day is precious as a Christmas morning. Finally, after a long winter season, it’s time to ride bikes and ride chair lifts without skis strapped to our feet.

The bike park is open seven days a week from 10AM to 8PM; and typically starts running the second week in May, depending on the snow levels. There are a variety of trails suited for all ability levels, from beginners to experts. Use Fitzsimmons chair to access the main trails. Garbo chair’s opening varies depending on snow levels; once it eventually opens, you will be able to access even more trails.

Whistler Blackcomb is excited to announce the Creekside Gondola and Red Chair are getting an upgrade. Over the summer, the maintenance crew will be hard at work converting the gondola into a 10-passenger upload, and the Red Chair will be changing into a 6-passenger lift. Sadly, the creekside trail zone will be closed for the summer.

Luckily the village is only a short bike ride away. If you’re new to the bike park and looking for a confidence boost, sign yourself up for a lesson. They will teach you proper techniques and help you navigate the suitable terrain. So make the most of the bike season, take advantage of the park to hot lap trails, and work on technique.

Take in the Spring Sights

The ultimate mountain sightseeing trip; is Whistler Blackcomb. Upload either the Whistler or Blackcomb Gondola, continue on the Peak to Peak, and complete the tour back to the base. Soak up the breathtaking views of the surrounding stunning mountains. Later in the season, the mountain staff works hard to dig out the famous snow walls for a path from the Whistler Gondola to the top of the Peak Chair.

You can access the snow walls via Pikas Traverse/Matthew’s Traverse 3.8KM or stroll down to the Peak Chair and enjoy a thrilling lift to the top. Walk by as the snow walls tower over you, reaching more than twice your size. If you opt for the ride to the top, take in the extraordinary surrounding views of the Black Tusk, Blackcomb Mountain, Decker Mountain, Cheakamus Glacier, and more.

Once at the top of Peak Chair, adventure across the new Cloudraker Skybridge to the Raven’s Eye for the most miraculous views. You can either walk down through the snow walls or enjoy the ride back down the chair from the peak to get back to the Roundhouse. Once the season shifts to Summer and enough snow has melted, both mountains will open various hiking trails appropriate for all abilities. Avoid the drastic elevation gain and head right to the top for the best views in town.
