Heavy Hitting Horror 2018

If you are a horror fanatic, an independent short filmmaker or just a cinephile hoping to see some scary scenes, make sure to keep your eye on The Heavy Hitting Horrorfest! Taking place at the Maury Young Arts Centre, local filmmakers hatched the Horrorfest in 2002, and it has grown into one of the most terrifying, most attended and longest-running independent film festivals in Western Canada. Back after a two-year hiatus for its 15th year, 1,200 gore obsessed fans will conglomerate on October 30th to view bloodshed, barbarity and brutality, making this festival one of the most exclusive and anticipated events in Whistler this fall.

Since the start, the HorrorFest has been a place where new filmmakers can experiment and create in the horror genre just for the fun of it. Young filmmakers can learn tips and tricks from seasoned veterans and have their work Included with filmmakers submitting from across the globe. In addition to the night of horrific cinematics, guests are also encouraged to dress up to follow the theme of Red Carpet Creepy, get scary and enjoy spooky music and socializing before the movies kick off. An afterparty will be held at Garfinkle’s where you will be able to request the monster mash for as long as the DJ permits.
