On Sunday, Mother’s get to enjoy Free Admission to the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre! Not only that but you get to receive a gift of a beautiful day planner designed by Andy Everson of the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation. It’s not only fun for the moms though, children can participate in a colouring contest for a chance to win prizes!
The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre showcases the two First Nations communities that lived in the Whistler and surrounding area – the Squamish & Lil’wat Nations.
Like many First Nations communities, the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations were oral societies with written languages only created in the 1970’s. Because these Nations were oral societies storytellers had an incredibly important role of being historians for their community.
Want to learn more about the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations? All you have to do is Vvsit the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, a museum dedicated to educating visitors about the history and importance of local First Nations culture.
