Whistler Arts Backdrop Sessions | Museum Speaker Series
Fan of the arts? Fan of Whistler? Well, you need to check out The Gallery’s Backdrop Sessions videos. Founded in 2015, this collaborative project offers an intimate look into the backgrounds and studios of local Whistler artists.
Delve into the mind of an artist as you visit Whistler artists in their home studios, learning about and sharing their individual inspirations, processes, influences and stories. This video series allows local artists to share the daily realities of their creative work.
This is Whistler’s only community gallery! Open to everyone, The Gallery boasts an ongoing, open call for artists, whose work is often incorporated into group shows. The Gallery primarily supports and hosts the artwork of local artists, but they also include work by national and international artists. Year-round exhibits include accessible artwork that covers a variety of genres, art mediums and subject matter, from light-hearted celebrations of mountain culture to important social issues.
The Gallery is proud to offer diverse exhibitions that showcase, promote, and sell the work of emerging and established artists. These exhibitions help to engage Whistler’s residents and visitors in an ongoing dialogue about issues and ideas through the medium of artistic interpretation.
Located on the upper level of Maury Young Arts Centre in Whistler village, The Gallery is open to the public daily with free admission! Come check out the incredibly talented artists who call Whistler their home.
