Temperatures are getting colder, leaves are changing color and days are becoming shorter. Fall has begun and winter is not far off. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, October is a great time to visit Whistler. The crowds have died down and there’s not as much going on in town, with the exception of a few great events.

Turkey Sale and Whistler Mountain Ski and Board Swap - October 9th - 12th
The Legendary Whistler Blackcomb Turkey Sale and Ski and Snowboard swap is taking place from October 9th – 12th. You can find amazing deals on skis, snowboards, bindings, jackets, pants, clothes, accessories and more. Plus, most if not all of the retail and ski/snowboard stores in Whistler Village will have mega sales on. It’s a great chance to gear up for the upcoming winter season!
Whistler Writers Festival - October 15th - 18th
Now in its 15th year the annual Whistler Writers Festival is an action packed weekend that includes development workshops, panel discussions, and reading and spoken word events. Attracting the very best Canadian and international authors, aiming to educate writers, readers and storytellers and helping to further their knowledge of the written word.
Fungus Among Us Mushroom Festival - October 16th - 17th
Presented by the Whistler Naturalists, the Fungus Among Us Mushroom Festival is two days of presentations and guided walks by experts in the mushroom field, as well as a gourmet wild mushroom tasting on Saturday.
Whistler 50 Relay and Ultra Marathon - October 17th
The 5th annual Whistler 50 Relay and Ultra Marathon hosted by BC Athletics, is a 50-mile event that is open to relay teams of 2, 4, 8 and solo ultra-marathoners. The course is centered throughout Whistler Village and the Valley Trail system.

50 Years of Going Beyond: The Movie - October 10th
From the Olympic dream in 1966 to the largest ski resort in North America and everything in between. From the resort’s adventure-seeking founders to its freestyle heydays – and breaking Guinness World Records along the way. 50 Years of Going Beyond: The Movie, celebrates Whistler Blackcomb’s last five decades, recounting the contributions they have made to skiing and snowboarding and the significance of its golden anniversary. Tickets are available for $10 and the shows start at 7 PM and 9 PM.
Under Armour Presents Fade to Winter - October 21st
“A bad day of skiing still beats a good day at work.” As the fall season eventually fades to winter, dreams of skiing top our minds and we focus all of our energy on returning to the mountains. MSP Films, the production powerhouse behind McConkey and Days of My Youth, presents Fade to Winter. Featuring jaw-dropping action from Alaska, Iceland, British Columbia, Japan, Colorado, Italy, and New England, this film captures the spirit of nine skiers who go to great lengths for the sport that they love. Starring Markus Eder, Bobby Brown, Michelle Parker, Mark Abma, Tanner Rainville, Aaron Blunck, James Heim, Sean Jordan, PK Hunder, and others. All-ages tickets are available for $20 for the 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM showings and ages 19 and up are available for $20 at 9:30 PM.
