State of the Art

Back for its 5th go around is the State of the Art Exhibition. Every year this event grows in size and popularity. This year marks the first time the event will be held the entirety of the festival. The State of the Art show can be viewed for FREE beginning April 12 - 21 at the Whistler Conference Centre.

State of the Art ModelOver 50 artist will be featured in this year's art exhibition, with over 50% of them being new entrants into the show. For 10 days, the Whistler Conference Centre will house works of art from all facets of the art scene. There will, of course, be plenty of painting on display, but there will also be a number of live art exhibits, art classes, sculptures, and light shows.

There is no limit to what can and can't be on display at this year's show. Most of the works of art will be geared towards the street art and pop art genre, but there will also be plenty of traditional artists and scenic artists on display as well.

One of the cool new features of this year's show is the Instagram Art Show. Budding artists are encouraged to tweet or Instagram their own art using the hashtag #SOTA. Photos and messages tagged with #SOTA will be streamed to a large screen located at State of the Art. This cool new technology allows anyone to participate in this year's show.

The 2013 State of the Art show takes place at the Whistler Conference Centre from Aril 12 - 21. The show is FREE to attend. For more information on this year's show including a list of featured artists head on over to the State of the Art website.
