World Ski & Snowboard Festival Preview
The countdown is on for the 2013 World Ski & Snowboard Festival (WSSF). Join us in Whistler from April 12 to 21, 2013, for the 18th edition of the festival. This smorgasbord of snow sports action, music, art and fashion always brings in the crowds from far and wide.
The WSSF has just released this year's schedule and as always is features a number of can't miss events both on and off the slopes. While the Big Air and FREE dominate the week there's always a number smaller events off the slopes to get excited about. If you're planning on attending this year's festival don't forget to check out these four awesome off slopes events.
OLYMPUS 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown
Tickets to signature events including the OLYMPUS 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown went on sale February 1. During this one of a kind filmmaking process directors must shoot, edit and produce a 3 - 5-minute film within a 100KM radius of Whistler within 72 hours. Because of the popularity of the event it will be held over two nights April 16 & 17. Tickets sell out quick to this event so pop over to the WSSF website for more info.
The Beginning Party & End Party
New to this year's event lineup are The Beginning & End Parties. These all night parties takes place at the Whistler Conference Centre and celebrate the beginning and end of the festival. The nights will be fueled by amazing DJ's, drinks, dancing and beautiful people to kick the Festival off and close it in style. The Beginning Party takes place April 14 and The End Party takes place April 20. Both parties are $35 to enter and take place from 10 PM to 4 AM.
State of the Art Show
The State of the Art Show is a welcome distraction from the complete madness that is World Ski & Snowboard Week. Join us anytime during the festival at the Whistler Conference Centre - Grand Foyer to check out some of the amazing artists and art submissions. There is no rules to what can and cannot be displayed. You will find some amazing works of art from traditional, street, anti movement and subversive movements. The show is FREE to the public and is a must-see while you're in town for the week. Open April 12 - 21: 12 PM - 6 PM, 8 PM on late gala ticketed nights.
Check out the latest fashion trends on the slopes, beach and streets at Fashion Exposed. After selling out last year the venue has been moved to the Skiers Plaza Main Stage for April 20. The event is FREE to attend and will feature a number of giveaways from all of the top brands in the snow, surf and street industry. Catch up on all the latest trends for 2013 during Fashion Exposed.
