Lace Up the Skates
Take part in one of Canada's favorite past times ice skating on your trip to Whistler. In Whistler, you can choose from a number of different options including skating in the village at Whistler Olympic Park, indoor at the Meadow Park Sports Centre or outside on one of the Whistler lakes.
Whistler Olympic Plaza
During the winter months Whistler's Olympic Plaza transforms into an outdoor ice rink. The ice surface is capable of housing up to 150 skaters at a time and is FREE to use. The Olympic Plaza Ice Rink is open 7 days a week, Sunday to Thursday 11 AM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM and Friday to Saturday 11 AM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 10 PM. Rental skates are available at the rink for $5.
Meadow Park Sports Arena
The Meadow Park Sports Arena is an all-purpose facility that houses an indoor ice rink, pool, gym and squash courts. The arena frequently holds public skating and drop-in hockey sessions during the week. Public Skating sessions are held daily during the winter months from 12 PM to 3 PM. Additional sessions are also held on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. If you're looking for a game of shinny drop-in hockey runs Thursday from 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM and Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:15 AM - 11:30 AM. Drop-in rates for hockey and public skating are $8 for an adult (19+), $5 for a youth (13-18) and $4.25 or a child (12 & Under).
Whistler is surrounded by a number of lakes and during the winter months they make for wonderful outdoor skating. Thanks to the recent cold snap Whistler has experienced the last week Alta Lake and Green Lake have completely frozen over. All you have to do is seek out a place where the snow has been plowed off and you've got yourself a free place to skate. No Canadian winter is complete until you've skated on a lake so get out there enjoy one of our favorite past times.
